What Is Cosmetic Dentistry?

Cosmetic dentistry is a type of dentistry that focuses on improving the appearance of your smile, not just the health of your teeth and gums. If you find yourself uncomfortable with your smile and sometimes stop yourself from smiling, then cosmetic dentistry is something you should consider. Here at Robert Brei DDS, we provide a variety of cosmetic dental services:

  • Dental Veneers
  • Teeth Whitening
  • Implant Crowns
  • Bridge
  • Crown Lengthening
  • Crown Buildup
  • Gold Crown
  • Porcelain/Ceramic Crown
  • Dentures

The aim of each of these treatments is to enhance the beauty of your smile. Through cosmetic dentistry, we can help you achieve a more beautiful, inviting smile that boosts your self-esteem and allows you to smile with confidence.

We may suggest cosmetic dentistry for any of our patients who would like to improve the beauty of their smile. Cosmetic dentistry might be the solution you need if your smile is flawed by imperfections such as:

  • Cracked, chipped, fractured or broken teeth
  • Gaps and spaces between teeth
  • Discolored, yellowed or stained teeth
  • Slightly misaligned or uneven teeth
  • One or more missing teeth
  • Teeth that appear too long, too short or too pointed
  • Very worn teeth
  • Misshapen teeth

Dental Stains and Teeth Whitening Trays

There are two types of stains that you can have on your teeth. Surface, or “extrinsic” stains, caused by smoking and diet occur on the surface of the enamel. “Intrinsic” stains are deeper and happen inside the tooth.

Whitening treatments and toothpaste mostly target the extrinsic stains. You can remove surface stains on your teeth by using a whitening toothpaste. These kinds of toothpastes usually contain special abrasives that gently polish the teeth as well as certain chemicals that can help break down stains. These toothpastes can be tough on tooth enamel, so make sure to always read labels when using them–some should only be used temporarily.

Most stains can’t be helped long-term by whitening toothpastes. To get that brighter smile, you’ll need to actually change the color of your teeth. You can do this using a bleaching agent. The bleaching agents most products use are hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide. These chemicals break stains into smaller pieces, making their color less concentrated and leaving your teeth much whiter! A great way to do this that is convenient and professional is with our whitening trays.

What Are Veneers?

For teeth with aesthetic imperfections that go beyond stains, such as chips or slight alignment problems, veneers could be a good solution. A veneer is a custom-made thin layer of porcelain or resin that covers the front surface of teeth.

Veneers improve the overall aesthetic of a smile by changing the shape, closing up spaces between front teeth, and covering up significant stains from coffee or red wine. The porcelain veneers are hand-painted and glazed for the most aesthetic and natural tooth look possible.

Crowns and More

Dental crowns add strength and restore aesthetic beauty to weak, deteriorated, and unsightly teeth, thus protecting and restoring the functionality of existing teeth. Deterioration is a normal process of aging, however, younger patients can also be candidates for crowns if they have cracked, broken, misshaped, or discolored teeth.

  • Teeth Whitening & Bleaching

A vibrant, beautiful smile makes a big difference in the way you look and feel. We offer several in-office and take-home professional whitening systems to brighten your smile, all of which have been chosen for their beautiful results and comfort.

  • Implant Crowns

These porcelain or ceramic replacement teeth are supported by the abutment on an implant.

  • Veneers

Bonded to an otherwise irreparable tooth, these thin shells are custom-made to fit the size, shape, and color of each tooth.

  • Bridge

Bridges made of porcelain fused to a high noble metal with a supportive retainer allow for the functional replacement of lost teeth.

  • Crown Lengthening

The procedure exposes a greater amount of tooth structure to allow for prosthetic restoration of the tooth.

  • Crown Buildup

In preparation for a crown, any hollowed out or broken parts of a tooth must be built up for the crown, which will allow for the preservation of an otherwise irreparable tooth.

  • Gold Crown

Fully cast from a noble metal, this is a strong fracture-proof crown.

  • Porcelain/Ceramic Crown

Advanced bonding technology allows for natural-looking crowns on your front teeth. The translucency, vitality, and gloss of all-porcelain crowns can match your existing teeth in color, shape, and size.

  • Dentures

An option for complete replacement of all upper and/or lower teeth.
